Dental Implants

An implant is held in place just like a natural tooth.
Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel and function like natural teeth. Some people lose their teeth as a result of injury, periodontal disease, tooth decay, or possibly their teeth just didn’t grow in. Dental implants can be placed in any area of the mouth where a tooth is missing and will be matched with remaining teeth so your smile will look natural and facial features regained. The implant itself is a man made root post that is gently placed into the location where the teeth are missing. Bone will attach to the implanted root and fuse usually taking a few months. When the tissue and bone have healed, your dentist will design the replacement tooth and attach it to the implant. Dental implants are made of the same material as total knees, hips, other artificial joints and are biologically compatible. Additionally, implants have proven to have a long term survival rate and will not need to be replaced like typical crown and bridge, plus they cannot form cavities. Follow up brushing and flossing at home and regularly scheduled dental visits will ensure the success of dental implants and keep your mouth healthy. The person who has replaced lost teeth can now laugh, smile, eat and speak with confidence.
